DBT will be putting a wall of windows in our new home, a reverse story and a half, with the windows in the stacked living room and family room to address the view of the woods as well as to serve as passive solar collectors on the south side of the house. This will be our second solar home in Kansas. Unless you have money to burn for heat and A/C, I wouldn't recommend lots of glass on other sides of the house. I also wouldn't recommend the ceiling windows shown in the photo for the same reason. They will allow the hot summer sun to enter the house, whereas the vertical windows facing south, will not. We loved our south wall of glass in Shawnee and we will love it at the new home as well. Passive solar design works!
