After more than 35 years in business, Design Build Team has launched Green Generation Homes, a new division that offers an emphasis on environmentally-friendly design. By introducing the method of modular construction, the company’s goal is to cut construction time and cost off projects while increasing energy performance and lowering maintenance costs.
Green Generation Homes’ process begins with a team of architects who are Certified Green Professionals through the NAHB National Green Building Program. The highly customizable projects focus on natural light, energy efficiency and minimal maintenance – three things the firm believes is at the core of every home.
These modular homes are built with a tight envelope, including highly insulated wall and roof assemblies, as well as efficient windows and doors. The homes make the most of space and utilize energy-efficient mechanical systems to allow homeowners to save on utilities. Upgrades may qualify for additional government rebates.
By partnering with several regional modular home manufacturers, the company is aiming to minimize moisture-related issues during construction. This strategy focuses on using the factory setting as an advantage by offering material protection, higher precision, and quicker delivery time. Attention is also paid to indoor air quality, non-toxic materials and pollution-control methods.
“When you stop to think about the amount of time spent in your home, that initial investment to build it right starts to make a lot of sense,” Green Generation Homes said. “Our staff is actively educating local lending institutions and building departments on why they should support the future of residential construction, but ultimately the decision to make a difference will begin with each client.”
