Green-tech experts are predicting a banner year for energy efficiency, according to an article in the San Jose Mercury News,  and Design Build Team is proud to be a part of the movement towards sustainability in home design and construction.

(For those who missed our previous blog post, “Smart Building,” check out a green-building initiative we’re  proud to be a part of, Green Generation Homes modular construction.)

The article states that “home energy use accounts for 21 percent of the nation’s carbon footprint,” a number that’s “twice the carbon emissions of passenger cars.”

It wasn’t long ago that President Obama proclaimed insulation “sexy,” but it’s our job to translate that message into action by making your home energy efficient enough to make the “green” saved (both in your pocketbook and the environment) seem sexy.

“There are 100 million homes in America, and energy-saving measures like insulation, caulking, and heating and cooling system ugrades can reduce household energy consumption by 10 percent to 40 percent,” according to a memo by the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
