Architectural Challenges

This kitchen, in an Indiana home, is making the most of their architecture features, especially the Brazilian cherry and wrought iron spiraling staircase in the center of the room. To some the spiral staircase would present a challenge, but for designer Kristin Okeley, she played up the focal point and built her kitchen around the staircase.

The open floorplan makes the space appear larger; the actual size of the kitchen is just 368 sq ft.   Okeley accentuated the curvature of the staircase with the center island.
